More Halfway Log Dump Pictures

Josi sitting on Dog Rock. The water seemed to put everyone in a meditative state.

Hey Look, it's Atlas! Peter will use his super powers to hold up this cliff!

Halfway Log Dump

Kris emerges from the wooded trail onto the spectacular white stony beach of Georgian Bay

The Dog Rock. Doesn't it look like a dog's head? Look at that beautiful carribean blue water!

After Singing Sands we decided to finish our day by going down Emmet Lake Road. There is a short trail there that leads to Georgian Bay. This area is called Halfway Log Dump. It is an amazingly beautiful place. The water is brilliantly blue and there are piles of rounded white stones. The coastline consists of pale cliffs and forests as far as you can see in either direction.

It seemed to have such a calming effect on the children too. After spending some time there they seemed pretty mellow. Posted by Picasa

A Day at the Park

What is the best thing to do after an uncomfortable sleep in a lumpy camp bed? Take the kids to the camp playground. This gives the grownups time to ingest mass quantities of caffeinne, while parking it on a bench. We did occasionally get up to push kids on the swings. This year Vickie and Kris joined our camping trip. It was such a blast! Peter got this picture of Josi, Raewyn, Eillish, Niki and Hannah having a great morning. Posted by Picasa

Picking the nose of the Canadian Shield

We found this rock that looked like an upturned nose, so of course we had to pick it a bit! Come on, you would too, admit it! Posted by Picasa

Treebeard and Entling Hike Around Cyprus Lake

Awwww, Peter and Willow look like they are all set for a long hike! While on vacation, we took some time to hike around Cyprus Lake. We've done this a couple of times before, but this was the longest hike we've taken Willow on. It's 5 km, not long for seasoned hikers, but with a toddler it can be a bit tricky. She was definately not going to walk the whole way. Peter's sister loaned us this back pack carrier. It's very nice but Willow got tired of after only 15 minutes. We had to send Peter back to the car to get the sling. I ended up toting Willow almost the whole way in it. Ouch! Posted by Picasa

My Water Baby

Willow loves the water! She spent ages lying in the shallow warm waters of Singing Sands, Lake Huron. It's a great place for people with young children because the water is very shallow. You have to walk forever before it gets deep. Posted by Picasa

Camping

We just got back from our camping trip to Tobermory. This year we borrowed my parents camper van. I still haven't decided whether I like the camper van or tent camping better. The van is pretty expensive on gas. It's huge and awkward to drive at times. It's a bit of a tight squeeze for all 5 of us and I really miss the night sounds like the wind in the trees.

But the Cancer in me loves the shell of a home on wheels. I like the cupboards for food and dishes and the big closet so i can keep our stuff alittle organized. I like the table and counters. The kids love the table when we are on the road. Great place to play cards. And when the weather turns miserable, which it always does when we camp without fail, we are cozy and dry inside.

I'll have to think about whether we'll take it next year or not. Posted by Picasa
